About Soledad de Maciel

On the coastal plain, it was the most important ceremonial center in the region during the years 650 and 900 AD. The Soledad de Maciel Archaeological Zone is also known as Xihuacan "those who possess the turquoise"

The site is characterized by what has been called "earth architecture", that is, the material with which it was built was both raw and fired clay.

From the archaeological finds, monoliths and a ball court, it can be deduced that there was a high commercial exchange between Teotihuacán, the valleys of Oaxaca and Western Mexico.
