About Exconvent del Carmen

Built between 1600 and 1620 it is bordered by a huge fence that covers approximately two blocks and is a clear example of the baroque style of the time. When the religious were cloistered in 1853 the place was turned into a trail, then government offices, school (when they throw their tower), jail and barracks for federal troops. It is now known as the Carmen Cultural Center and houses a small archaeological museum.
