The Petenes Biosphere Reserve
Petenes are complex habitats of islands of varied vegetation that have made this reserve a unique place within Mexican territory remarkable for its great diversity of flora and fauna. It is part of an ecoregion involving the Biosphere Reserve Ria Celestun and State Protected Natural Area El Palmar, in the State of Yucatan.
