About Amparo Museum

In memory of Amparo Rugarcía, her husband created a foundation in his name to the rising of the Amparo Museum. Its rooms have more than 1,700 archaeological pieces; in addition to 1,300 works of colonial art, nineteenth and twentieth century. The building itself is a gem that was the Hospital of St. John Lateran erected in 1538.
The place is home to major temporary exhibitions presented in other renowned museums.
