Founded since 1886, it is the oldest museum in the INAH Museum Network and is in its current location since 1916. Its headquarters is an 18th-century Baroque mansion that is worth visiting, but the interior collections enjoy of a great historical wealth, in addition to its murals, archaeological pieces, collection of viceregal art and art of the nineteenth century, as well as important documents.
